XXXI (Thirty-One) is a mixed-use studio and gallery space founded by creative studio XXIX (Twenty-Nine). XXXI is home to four design studios, including Michael Groth co, and hosts design-related shows throughout the year in a gallery at the front of the space. The main objective in the design was to create flexibility in a narrow ground-floor retail space for a varied program of work and meeting areas, retail display, and gallery shows. MGC developed a fully custom solution of movable furniture and a modular benching / shelving wall system to allow the space to transform quickly and easily. The space is able to transform on a daily, weekly, or seasonal basis to accommodate the studio's changing needs.
